"Connection timed out" error when using Web Deploy


If you experience a "Connection timed out" error when using WebMatrix, Visual Studio, etc., it is because your local firewall and/or router is blocking port 8172.
 
Unblocking port 8172 in your firewall/router should resolve the issue.
